Julia Gillard starts off by empathising with Tony Abbott:
‘I do have an understanding of what Tony Abbott is going through it is a very difficult thing you are very bruised and battered’, she said.
‘You don’t realise how intellectually and physically exhausted you are until you stop’.
I thought this was strange given that, unlike Abbott, Gillard also has the experience of knifing a first term sitting Prime Minister.
And of course, Gillard just couldn’t resist another opportunity to play the victim:
Australia’s first female prime minister said Mr Turnbull will be spared the ‘gendered critique and insult’ that became the ‘go-to weapon’ towards the end of her term.
I think I’ll decline Gillard’s invitation to feel sorry for her.
